Johnson service ‘makes me proud’

To the editor:

I am writing to you and to the citizens of Suffolk about a few issues that I find to be of great importance during this year’s mayoral election.

As I prepare myself to vote this year, I am reflecting over the past several years that Linda Johnson has served as our mayor, and I am reminded of the many successes that make me more proud as each year passes to call Suffolk my home.

As a lifelong resident, the growth during the past six years of Johnson’s tenure has been astounding. With new businesses moving to this town every year, it becomes easier for me to spend my dollars where they count: in my hometown.

With more than 5,000 jobs created during her time as mayor and more than 250 businesses that are new or expanding to this area, I shine with pride as a Suffolk resident, but more importantly as a woman.

Linda Johnson is the only woman currently serving on our City Council, and as citizens we would be remiss to ignore that we would lose a major voice and viewpoint for the women of Suffolk without her at the help of our city.

In this election, Linda Johnson will have my vote, because the key issues already have been addressed: Growth. Change. Opportunity.
