KFHS to host bands

Marching bands from 10 high schools will converge on King’s Fork High School Saturday for the Kennel Classic Battle of the Bands at 5 p.m.

To be held in the stadium, the Classic will include bands from Maryland, North Carolina, Richmond, Southampton, Newport News, Norfolk, Portsmouth and Suffolk, according to a press release.

A Lakeland High School drum major performs in the 2010 Kennel Classic at King’s Fork High School. This year’s event is set for Saturday.

Local bands will include Lakeland High School Marching Quiet Storm, Nansemond River High School Marching Warriors, and the King’s Fork High School Marching Bulldogs.

The Virginia State University Trojan Explosion Marching Band as well as the Elizabeth

City State University Viking Marching Band will perform as the university exhibition groups.

Tickets can be purchased for $10 from any KFHS Marching Band student, band director Jason Taylor in the King’s Fork High band room, or at the gate.
