To the editor:

Now that, after many years, a new elementary school is in the works for southwestern Suffolk, and now that Tidewater Community College is well established in its new Portsmouth location, it’s time for the City Council and School Board to turn their attention to the desperate need for new schools in North Suffolk.

Florence Bowser, Driver, Creekside, Northern Shores, John Yeates and Nansemond River are all woefully overcrowded. What about an educational campus with new elementary, middle and high schools, all on the former TCC property?
