Joseph Lee “Jessie” Roberts, 67, of 1312 Shelton Court, Suffolk, Va., died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was a native of Suffolk and the son of the late Joseph G. Roberts and Mary F. Whitehead.

He attended Booker T. Washington High School. He was an Army veteran.

He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Dwayne A. Calvie (JoAnne) and Keneth J. Calvie (Tannesh), both of Suffolk; four sisters, Linnie P. Parker, Gladys M. Manley, Randy D. Scales and Beverly Green, all of Suffolk; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; special friend, Willie “Chick” Smith; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, in the chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. Interment will be in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.crockerfuneralhome.com.
