Mr. John Thomas “Potbelly” Harris, of 2008 Arizona Ave., went into eternal rest on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at Sentara Obici Hospital.

He is survived by his loving wife, Connie Laverne Harris; his daughters, Michelle Harvey (Tracy) and Minthia Crawley (Irving), both of Suffolk, Va.; his sisters, Catherine Harris and Margaret Vann (Donald), also of Suffolk, and his sisters-in-law, Dorressia Owens and Paulette Butler (Huley), of Suffolk; two grandchildren, Keonda and Kristina Crawley; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Alexander Harris and Sarah Luster Harris; his sisters, Mariah Watson and Laura H. Turner; his brothers, Alexander Harris Jr., William H. Harris, Otis Lee Harris and Walter Harris.

A home going service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at New Calvary Baptist Church, 220 N. Sixth St., Suffolk. The Rev. Roger N. Greene will be officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home Inc., 685 Carolina Road, Suffolk. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery, Suffolk.
