A woman who led police on a three-city chase with her two young children in the vehicle was among 44 defendants indicted by the grand jury on 125 charges last week.

Alisia Carter, then 24, of the 1400 block of Falcon Street, is charged in the incident.

According to a news release from police, Carter and another woman were allegedly shoplifting at the Chesapeake Square Walmart. Police responded to the area and located a vehicle — Carter’s minivan — fleeing the area. They attempted a traffic stop, but Carter allegedly did not stop, instead leading police through Portsmouth into Suffolk before allegedly ramming a State Police vehicle at the intersection of Portsmouth Boulevard and Nansemond Parkway in Suffolk.
