Thank you for a great decision

To the editor:

I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to all those who played a part in the decision to change the venue for Suffolk Public Schools graduation. Many thanks go to the Suffolk School Board, Dr. Deran Whitney and the many parents who took time from their schedules to speak at School Board meetings for this decision.

I am a senior this year at Lakeland High School, and I am one of the many students who would have had to make a hard decision regarding a very important day.

I have a large family compared to some of my friends, and I am the oldest of four. I am also fortunate enough to have grandparents, aunts, and uncles who have been active and involved in my life.

All these people are proud of my accomplishments and have helped get me to where I am today. They helped me with school projects and supported me at school functions, fundraisers, sports, and programs. They deserve this graduation day as much as I do.

So, again, thank you from me and my family for giving us this special day for all to enjoy.
Also, to the students and families who will be attending the upcoming graduation, as a show of appreciation, please respect the rules at this event. We do not want the Class of 2013 to ruin this event for future Suffolk graduates and their families.
