Mary Lee Edwards, 69, of 105 Carver Ave., Suffolk, died Sunday, June 30, 2013, at her residence. She was a native of Nansemond County and the daughter of the late James Allen and Polly Worrell Allen.

She was a member of Diamond Grove Baptist Church, where she was in the Senior Choir. She was employed as a companion nurse.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Latrica Batten (Antoinio), of Chesapeake, and Edith Bailey (James), of Smithfield; one son, Thomas Allen (Evelyn), of Suffolk; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Louis Allen, Theodore Allen and David Allen, all of Suffolk; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2013, at Diamond Grove Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Calvin Lillard. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Crocker Funeral Home on Thursday, July 4, 2013, from 6 to 7 p.m. There will be no public viewing.
