Pharmacy awards $1,000 scholarship

Bennett’s Creek Pharmacy, a Good Neighbor Pharmacy located in North Suffolk, has announced Mary Alice Blythe as the recipient of a $1,000 Good Neighbor Pharmacy scholarship.

This year, Good Neighbor Pharmacies awarded $12,000 in scholarships to deserving students across the state of Virginia. Blythe was one of more than 200 high school senior applicants throughout the state who applied for the scholarships.

All applicants had to submit to the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Advisory Council a transcript of their high school grades, including extra-curricular activities demonstrating their leadership; recommendations from teachers; and an essay on “Improving the Health of My Community.”

Each student also provided the council an understanding of their personal higher education plans and scholarship needs to assist with the financial requirements of continuing their education.

Virginia independent pharmacies began this scholarship program more than 25 years ago and have awarded more than $200,000 to students. Hundreds of scholarship applications are received each year.
