Ashley Ryan Alston and Brett Martin Heberling were united in marriage on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at Smithfield Baptist Church. Dr. Don Rhoton officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kevin L. Alston of Suffolk. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Heberling Jr. of Falls Creek, Pa.
 Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attended by Amber Powell, cousin of the bride, as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Rebecca Sherard, friend of the bride; Shannon Lia, friend of the bride; Courtney Berard; cousin of the bride; Julia Robbins, friend of the bride; and Daphne Russell, friend of the bride.
Matt Heberling, brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Matt Foradora, friend of the groom; Craig Bukosky, friend of the groom; Adam Struzynski, friend of the groom; Trey Halko, friend of the groom; and Jason Allison, friend of the groom.
Jodi Brisson and Noah Olson, second cousins of the bride, were the flower girl and ring bearer.

Calla lilies were placed on the front pew in memory of beloved family members by Sarah Heberling, sister of the groom; Kayla Heberling sister of the groom, and Ty Ormsby, cousin of the bride.

Kari Van Wassen, cousin of the bride, read the poem “The One” prior to the unity sand ceremony. Jeff Joyner, friend of the bride, sang “The Lord’s Prayer,” and Darryl and Patty Yandle, friends of the bride, sang “I Won’t Give Up.” The mistress of ceremonies was Kathy Panikowski, friend of the bride.

A reception was held after the wedding at the Smithfield Center.

After a honeymoon in St. Lucia in the eastern Caribbean Sea, they will reside in Portsmouth.
