The No. 4 Denbigh High School boys’ volleyball team gave No. 1 King’s Fork High School a run for its money, but the Bulldogs justified their seeding with a four-set win in the conference tournament semifinals Wednesday night.

The Bulldogs prevailed 25-17, 25-23, 22-25, 25-18 at Heritage High School and qualify for participation in the regional tournament as a result.

Junior Cal Bailey led King’s Fork with 27 assists and he also had four digs. Senior Mark Kluck offered 10 kills and four blocks while junior Aireon Leary contributed nine kills.

King’s Fork (14-9) faces No. 2 Heritage High School to determine which is the Ironclad Conference 18 tournament champion tonight, following the girls’ championship at Nansemond River High School.
