Always a Christian nation

To the editor:

One of the statements from the Obama administration is that we are no longer a Christian nation. Instead they claim we are also a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation — and the list goes on.

To me, such a statement smacks of political arrogance and could not be any further from the truth. The United States was founded on Christian principles, and Christianity was, still is, and will always be the religion practiced by the majority of God-fearing Americans.

America is indeed an exceptional country for a multitude of reasons, including offering religious freedom to people of all faiths. This is part of what makes America exceptional, and it also includes welcoming foreigners from countries that do not reciprocate by offering the same religious freedom to Christians.

I believe most Americans respect other religions, but it does not mean that someone can simply usurp part of the identity of our great country. As long as we are a free people, we will forever be a Christian nation.

The Bible says, “Exalt yourself and you will be humbled, humble yourself and you will be exalted.” In my humble opinion, this administration should forget about trying to transform America into something it is not.

Instead they should humble themselves to the only One who can save our great nation from further moral decay and ultimate destruction. God bless our Christian nation.
