Calendar contest winners named

Recently, we asked our readers to share their best photos showing Suffolk’s beauty for possible publication in the Suffolk News-Herald’s 2015 calendar.

Nearly three dozen readers responded to the call, and a total of 25 photos were ultimately qualified to be in the running for the honor of cover placement in the calendar. Hundreds of other readers visited the online polling site to cast their votes for the winner in the Snapshots of Suffolk contest.

The voters spoke, and the winner of the contest was Richard Livesay of Sedley.

Livesay’s photo will appear on the cover of the calendar, which will be published in the Nov. 29 edition of the Suffolk News-Herald. He also wins a $100 gift certificate.

The next 12 most popular submitted photos, including one submitted by Juelle Jiminez as part of a separate contest at Peanut Fest, will appear as artwork accompanying the calendars for each month, and the final 12 approved submissions appear in a collage at the back of the calendar.

In addition to the one by Jiminez (October), photos that will accompany the different monthly calendars were submitted by the following: Robin Rose (January), Katie Jerabek (February), Wendy Mears (March), Edward Smith (April), Beverly Dhaliwal (May), Carla Duck (June), William Freeman Sr. (July), Karla Cobb (August), Jo Lynn Butler (September), Robin Burden (November) and Lori Harcum (December).

Thanks to everyone who took part in the contest, whether by submitting photos or by voting for their favorites.
