About four years after she formally started her Christian Hand-Up Ministry, Elnora Grant says the program still is going strong.

Even when the ministry was new, it wasn’t. It was a continuation of something she’s been doing her entire adult life, she said.

Grant’s ministry helps people with all sorts of problems. Its main focus is helping them pay for dental work, but she’s also helped with furniture, fixing appliances, helping to cover bills, distributing free clothing and more.

“We’ve spent a little over $6,000 in dental help,” she said. “That’s where the most money has been spent.”

When people in need call Grant, she turns to her network of family, church friends and others to find a way to fill the need. When she can’t find anyone, she contacts a business and encourages the professionals to donate their services.

She has someone regularly she can call for vacuum cleaner repair and would love to hear from any business that can provide a needed service, she said.
