The northbound lanes and one southbound lane were closed while emergency crews worked the accident.

At 4:30 p.m., Wilson still was in the emergency room in Norfolk, a Sentara spokesman said, so his condition was unavailable.

Bridge Road was reopened by 8:30 a.m. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
