Three displaced in fire

Suffolk Fire & Rescue crews responded Sunday afternoon to a residential structure fire in the 100 block of Timberneck Arch in the Burnett’s Mill neighborhood.

Emergency Communications received the call at 2:57 p.m., and the first units arrived on scene at 3:03 p.m., according to a city press release. 

Upon arrival at the single story residence, crews found heavy fire showing from the rear of the structure, with flames extending through the attic. The occupants had evacuated prior to the arrival of firefighters, according to the release. The home sustained significant damage, and a neighboring residence also had minor heat damage on the exterior.

One adult and two juveniles were displaced as a result of the fire and are being assisted by family members, according to the release. 

The fire was called under control at 3:39 p.m.  There were no injuries.    

The Chuckatuck Volunteer Fire Department provided assistance with Engine 29. 

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time, according to the release. The fire marshal’s office is investigating.
