To the Editor:

On behalf of Suffolk Clergy for Interracial and Interdenominational Unity, we wish to thank the community for its support of our Community Thanksgiving Service held Tuesday evening at First Baptist Church Mahan Street.

Because of the generosity of those attending, a collection of $1,031.20 was received and given to the local Salvation Army for its Thanksgiving meals program.

This was the second city-wide service offered by Suffolk Clergy United, which is continuing to meet and plan ways the churches in the city of Suffolk can interact with each other and serve the community. The first event was the city-wide prayer vigil held in July following the tragic shooting at Mother Emanuel A.M.E. Church in Charleston, S.C.

If you are interested in working with this group to bring together our churches across racial and denominational lines, please contact Pastor Skip Irby at 651-8887 or email Pastor Michael Halley at office@suffolkchristian.org to be put on the mailing list.
