David Lawrence Daughtrey, 84, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016, at Consulate Health Care of Norfolk. He was born on June 5, 1931, in Lancaster, Pa., to the late Mary V. Vann and Thomas Daughtrey.

David was a 1951 graduate of East Suffolk High School and attended Virginia State University.

He served in the United States Army and was employed by Goldkist Peanuts.

David is survived by one loving brother, the Rev. Linwood T. Daughtrey; devoted nieces, Monica L. Bradley (Alton) and Constance D. Mitchell; and a host of other family members and friends.

Mr. Daughtrey’s visitation will take place from noon to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016, at the funeral home. A funeral service will take place at noon Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016, in the Rev. Melvin R. Boone Chapel of T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home Inc., and he will be laid to rest at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
