To the editor:

James Thomas (“Panhandling ordinance is ‘cold-hearted,’” March 19) was right on about the way City Council handled panhandling.

The Bible says that in the last days, “the love of many will grow cold.” We see it happening now.

The sad part is that most of the complaints about panhandlers are coming from people who sit in church every Sunday, claiming to be Christians.

It boils down to this: If you are not making a big salary and living in a house worth six figures and driving a big luxury car, you are not counted, and you should stay out of the sight of those who have made it, because you are an eyesore.

When you stand for nothing, you fall for anything. Do you get it, City Council?
