Fire destroys motor home

A motor home was destroyed by fire on a downtown street Wednesday afternoon.

Suffolk Fire & Rescue crews responded to the fire at South Main and Granby streets. It was reported at 1:59 p.m., and the first units arrived at 2:05 p.m., according to a city press release.

The crews arrived to find a motor home with heavy fire showing. A Dominion Energy power line was exposed to the fire, and their crews also responded to inspect the line.

The fire was called under control at 2:12 p.m., and there were no injuries.

The engine was running at the time of the fire, according to the press release. The investigation into the cause of the fire remains ongoing.
