Vandals who struck late Friday or early Saturday left considerable damage and several offensive messages at Cedar Point Country Club.

Club officials confirmed by email Tuesday night that several greens were damaged, and water coolers were spray painted, in a vandalism incident that took place in the overnight hours Friday night.

Swastikas and “KKK” were “carved into four putting surfaces,” according to an emailed statement signed by club President Cameron Robinett and General Manager Tony Coppa.

“Cedar Point Country Club and its members are deeply offended and appalled by both the act of vandalism and the words and symbols used,” the men stated in the email. “At this time, the Club believes that this was a random act of vandalism and has no reason to believe that anyone associated with the Club was involved.”

The club is working with Suffolk police “to take proactive steps to protect the security of club property and the safety of its members and guests,” the email added.

Robinett and Coppa asked that anyone with information about the vandals contact the Suffolk Police Department.
