Fred Skeeter Jr., 93, of 2140 Skeetertown Road, Suffolk, Va., was transitioned to Heaven on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was a native of Nansemond County and the son of the late Fred Skeeter Sr. and Daisy Skeeter.
He was a member of the Military Honor Guard during World War II and completed and received a degree from the U.S. Navy Submarine Academy. He retired as a submarine contour specialist from Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Mr. Skeeter was a member of Mt. Ararat Christian Church.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Elsie M. Skeeter; one son, McArthur Skeeter (Mercedes), of Bronx, N.Y.; three daughters, Shirley S. Crane (Larry), of San Diego, Calif., Glenda S. Hall, of Los Angeles, Calif., and Theresa Mulqueen Skeeter, of Suffolk, Va.; seven sisters, Doris Palmieri, Mabel Weaver Darden, Beatrice Faulk, Gladys Green, Daisy Washkalis, Marjorie Milteer and Hazel Skeeter; three brothers, Bruce Skeeter, Daniel Skeeter, and Woodrow Skeeter; three grandchildren, Wallace E. Hall II, Nikkole Hall, both of Los Angeles, Calif., Jonathan C. Skeeter, two great-granddaughters, Chloe H. Skeeter and Eden Rose Skeeter, all of Bronx, N.Y.; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Mt. Ararat Christian Church officiated by Dr. H. Harvey Murrill, pastor. Interment will be in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
The body will be placed in the church at 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. The family will assemble at noon at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 for the procession to the church.
