Viola Minggia

Viola M. Minggia, 73, of New Britain, Conn., departed on Friday, April 23, 2010 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut at New Britain General after a long illness. Viola was born in Suffolk, Va., where she lived for several years before going to New Britain, Conn. She was employed at Sherri Cup, Inc. as a machine operator for several years. Viola attended Spottswood A.M.E. Zion Church, New Britain, Conn. before her illness.
Viola leaves her children; four daughters, Eloise Minggia-Ruiz and her husband, Albert, of Newington, Conn., Sherrell Billue and her husband, Reggie, Sheila Daley and Jacklin Minggia, all of New Britain, Conn., two sons, Curtis Minggia and his wife, Janice, of New Britain, Conn. and Sylvester Minggia, of Falmouth, Mass., her four grandsons, D’Andre, Quintin, Curtis Dyrell and Isaiah, one great-grandson, Derion, her brother, Earnest Minggia and her three sisters, Gracie Cotton, Lucy and Shirley Faulk, all of Suffolk, Va., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A homegoing celebration for Viola will be held Friday, April 30, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Spottswood A.M.E. Zion Church, 25 Crestwood Lane, New Britain, Conn. with the Rev. Patricia Rice, presiding. Committal service and final resting place will be in Fairview Cemetery, 120 Smalley St., New Britain, Conn. Relatives and friends may call at Spottswood A.M.E. Zion Church, Friday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Flowers will be accepted at the church Friday from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
