Mr. James A. Perkins Jr. (June), of 311 Bank St., departed this earthly life on June 22, 2010 at Sentara Obici Hospital. He is preceded in death by his father, James A. Perkins Sr., mother, Dorothy L. Horner Perkins, and sister Angela D. Perkins. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Wanda B. Perkins, children, LaCurtis, Kesha Boutte, LaKisha Pruden, Lonnie Perkins (LA) and Shaunetta Perkins; sisters, Jacqueline P. White (Edward) and Carolyn D. Phillips (Charles). He will be lovingly missed by his 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a host of loving relatives and friends. He will also be missed by his special cousins, Almeta B. Smith and Winnie J. Sears, and a host of other caregivers.
A home going service will be held at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 125 County St., on Sunday, June 27, 2010 at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Mazelle Family Cemetery, Jackson Road, Suffolk. A wake service will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2010 from 5 to 6 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home, Inc., 685 Carolina Road, Suffolk. Visitation will be at the funeral home beginning Saturday at noon. The family will receive friends at the homes of June, 311 Bank St., and Carolyn Phillips, 1982 Hosier Road.
