George Hatten

George W. Hatten, 92, of 1709 Macedonia Road, Suffolk, Va., passed away Saturday, May 8, 2010 in Prince George’s Hospital Center in Cheverly, Md. He was a native of Nansemond County and the son of the late George and Josephine Chapman Hatten.
He retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 31 years. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church where he was a former trustee, president of the Usher Board and former member of the Deacon Board. He was the oldest member at Macedonia.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Geraldine Hatten, of 58 years; one daughter, Evelyn Hatten Eligan (Richard Jr.), of Upper Marlboro, Md.; daughter-in-law, Barbara Ethridge, of Williamsburg, Va.; two sisters, Louise Parker, of Philadelphia, Pa. and Ethel King, of Carrollton, Va.; three grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; a special caretaker, cousin Josephine Hudgins; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Macedonia Baptist Church officiated by Rev. J.B. Townsell. Interment will be in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
