SUFFOLK — Robert M. Green, 64, of 6818 Old Myrtle Road, Suffolk, died Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Sentara Potomac Mills Hospital in Woodbridge, Va. He was a native of Suffolk and the son of the late Robert C. Green and Edith Rodgers.
Robert, mostly known as Mac, was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a sheet metal mechanic for the Naval Air Rework facility, from which he retired after 26 years of service. Mac was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 43 years, Barbara S. Green; two sons, Kenneth M. Green (Cecilia), of Pennsylvania, and Telly D. Green, of Woodbridge, Va.; daughter, Tracie Y. Green, of Woodbridge; sister, Gloria Green Wright (husband, the late James Wright); his in-laws, Betty S. Mixon (Dr. James Mixon), of Hampton, Va., Carolyn Stevenson, Dr. Pretlow L. Stevenson Jr. (Dorothy), and Andre C. Stevenson (Sonja), both of Suffolk; two grandchildren, Kenneth M. Green Jr. (son of Kenneth M. Green Sr.) and Emily Ann Miracle Harris (daughter of Telly D. Green); numerous other relatives and friends.
A homegoing celebration will be held at noon Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Little Mt. Zion Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Roland B. Brown Jr., pastor. Interment will be on Monday, May 17, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Albert G. Horton Memorial Veterans Cemetery. A wake will be held Friday, May 14, 2010 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Crocker Funeral Home.
