Police are looking for two men who posed as Western Auto customers on Saturday and robbed the store’s elderly proprietor at gunpoint.
Around 2:30 p.m., two men, wearing black pants and black shirts, who indicated they wanted to do business, came into the store at 251 W. Washington St., said Debbie George, spokeswoman for the city.
While one man kept a handgun on the store’s owner, Nelson Emmons, the other man took $400 in cash from Emmons, said George.
Emmons, 70, was not hurt and was back at the store Monday. However, he declined to comment for this story.
Witnesses reported seeing the two black men, who fled the business on foot, get into a brown Ford SUV, possibly an Explorer or Expedition, driven by a heavyset black woman. The SUV had Virginia license plates.
No other descriptions of the suspects were available.
