A 16-year-old boy who was shot three times over the weekend is still hospitalized today as police continue to hunt for the gunman.

“He is alert and talking,” said city spokeswoman Debbie George. No other details on the victim’s condition were available at press time.

Police found the boy lying in the parking lot of Cogic Square Apartments, on Stacy Drive, around 2 a.m. Sunday, said city spokeswoman Debbie George.

The teen is still in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he underwent surgery after the shooting.

Police believe the shooting happened after a fight broke out at a party inside the apartment, and then moved out into the parking lot. Several shots – investigators still aren’t sure how many – were fired from one or more suspects in the parking lot, George said.

Investigators aren’t saying how many or what types of guns were used in the incident.

Four parked vehicles were hit by gunfire, George said.

Authorities are trying to locate a gold- or cream-colored Acura Legend, with a broken window, that was seen leaving the area immediately after the shooting, George said.

Anyone with information on the car or who witnessed the incident is asked to call the Suffolk Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or Detective Q. Beers at 514-7944.
