HAMPTON – Suffolk’s Scott Prillaman moved out in front on the first-lap restart to win the 50-lap Top Dog race, the main event of Saturday’s Daily Press Kids Night Arena Racing USA program at the Hampton Coliseum.

Prillaman also took the checkered flag in the A Main feature. He started on the pole and led all 50 laps. Anthony Perez, 14, a Suffolk resident and student at Isle of Wight Academy, took the lead on lap 49 and won the 50-lap C Main race.

In the Top Dog finale, Denver Alvis drew the pole, but his machine went on two wheels, taking Adam Florian with him for the first caution of the night. Florian was pushed into the wall, taking his chance at the Top Dog feature.

On the restart, Prillaman darted down the straightaway for a three-car-length lead ahead of the pack.

Prillaman survived four more cautions, and restarts, and won by four car-lengths. Spencer Saunders was second, followed by Greg Pass, Jason Styron, and Robbie Davis.

Prillaman drew the pole and led all 50 laps to win the A Main feature. Saunders started in the fifth position, but moved into second position and challenged Prillaman as the race moved on.

Pass was third followed by Styron, Davis, Derek Miller, Jordan Wood, and Florian. The top eight finishers advanced to the Top Dog feature.

Nelson Moody, last week’s rookie (C Main) winner, drew the pole for the B Main race, but was forced to contend with the rest of the pack early in the circuit. Aaron Leach started the race in third, but gained the lead early and went onto to win the 50-lap feature.

Mike Dayton drew the pole for start of the C Main event and led 48 of the 50 laps until Perez gained the lead and rolled on to win.
