Thanksgiving will be coming a few days early for hundreds of people in need of a helping hand this year.

On Nov. 22, just a few days before the holiday, IMPACT SUFFOLK will host its annual Food Give-A-Way. The event will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Howard Mast Tennis Complex, off North Main Street.

Food will be given to approximately 750 people, said Okpun Langley, a spokeswoman for IMPACT SUFFOLK, a nonprofit made up of representatives from local churches.

Several local companies and organizations – including Operation Blessing, The Bread Ministry of Hampton and Massimo Zanetti – usually come together to help distribute donated food to residents.

“I think this is going to be a blessing to the people of Suffolk,” said Langley. “It is really going to touch a lot of people, particularly with the economy in the shape it’s in today.”

IMPACT SUFFOLK is looking for volunteers from local churches to help hand out the food.
