Rosa Copeland

SUFFOLK – Mrs. Rosa L. Copeland, 69, of 113 Chestnut St., Suffolk, was called home to glory on Nov. 20, 2008 at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was predeceased in death by her husband, Mr. Eddie Scott Copeland Jr.; her parents, Mr. James Hunter Sr. and Mrs. Martha Colanders; her stepfather, Elder John H. Colanders; and brother, Mr. James (Rat) Hunter Jr.
She had retired from Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for over 30 years of service. She was a lifelong member of New Ivor Holiness Church Soul Saving Ministries. Since her childhood, Mrs. Copeland served as a trustee member and an interior decorator for the church.
She leaves to cherish her memories three sons, Mr. Edwin Hunter (Brenda), of Carrollton, Mr. Angelo Copeland, of Suffolk, and Mr. Alvin Copeland, of Norfolk; three daughters, Mrs. Letraril Knight (Alvin), of Suffolk, Mrs. Martha Armstrong (Tyrone), of Chesapeake, Ms. Helen Copeland-Rodgers, of Suffolk; one sister, Mrs. Cora Copeland (Clarence Sr.), of Suffolk; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
A homegoing celebration will take place at noon on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008 at Missouri Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Ronnie Boone and eulogy by the Rev. Travis Copeland, grandson. Interment will be in Ivor Cemetery, Ivor, Va. The family will be at the home of her daughter, Letraril Knight, 715 Kilby Ave., Suffolk. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
