Ruth Virginia Dilday Felton, 84, of 100 Anna Goode Way, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2008 in Sentara Obici Hospital.
Mrs. Felton was born in Hertford County, N.C. and was the daughter of the late Andrew Jesse Sr. and Mary Cornelia Brinkley Dilday. A retired sales clerk, she was a member of Eure Christian Church and a former member of its Ladies Aid Fellowship. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lugene Joseph Felton; a sister, Mary Ellen Dilday Harrell; and brothers, Lee Jackson Dilday, Andrew Jessie Dilday Jr., Raymond McCoy Dilday, Dan Ruffin Dilday, and Donald Owens Dilday.
Surviving are her daughter, Lugayle Felton Upchurch, her husband, Fred and their son, Christian Frederick Upchurch, all of Suffolk; three sisters, Dorothy Evelyn Dilday Bowden, of Suffolk, Mable Gray Dilday Umphlette, of Murfreesboro, and Nancy Mae Dilday Wheeler, of Lasker; and two brothers, Luther Edward Dilday, of Greenville, N.C., and Howard Ray Dilday, of Murfreesboro.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Eure Christian Church by the Rev. Wayne Gardner and the Rev. Michael Brinkley. Burial will follow in the Ahoskie Cemetery. Friends may join the family in the social hall of the church immediately following the church service and all other times at the home of her daughter, 828 Craig Drive, Suffolk, Va.
