After a call for help by the police department Tuesday morning, a Suffolk man turned himself in to police late Tuesday afternoon in connection with three cases of felony child abuse.

John Anthony Holmes, 38, was wanted for physically abusing a 7-year-old child, according to a city press release. Police are able to release little information on the case at this time, due to an ongoing, active investigation, Suffolk spokeswoman Debbie George said in the release on Tuesday.

Detective Cheryl Balzer is the lead investigator in the case.
