On Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, the Angel knocked on the door at 709 Freedom Ave., Portsmouth, Va., at 1:30 p.m. and ushered Earnest Lee Williams to his eternal home. He leaves to cherish his memories his beloved wife, Catherine Ford (Kathy) Williams, four loving daughters, one devoted son, two sisters, and a brother. He will be missed by his 14 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and friends.
Earnest retried from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 36 years of service and was a faithful member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Suffolk. A home going service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Gethsemane Baptist Church, 1656 Copeland Road, Suffolk where the Rev. Simmons will officiate. Interment will immediately follow the service at Gethsemane Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence, 709 Freedom Ave., Portsmouth.
