The Edmarc Hospice for Children beat out dozens of other non-profit organizations to win a full year of free marketing and branding services from Suffolk’s only marketing and advertising agency, The Addison Group.
“Edmarc stood head and shoulders above the others,” said Tom Powell, president of The Addison Group. He added that he was one vote on a panel of five colleagues and consultants brought in to judge the applications. Edmarc was chosen unanimously and without discussion.
“Edmarc is a quiet organization with a huge vision,” Powell said. “Our goal is to put them on the radar in Hampton Roads for this year, because what they do is truly unique.”
Edmarc is based in Chesapeake, but was founded by members of Suffolk Presbyterian Church. “That makes it close to home for me, as well,” Powell said.
The hospice offers support and care for terminally ill children and to the families dealing with the loss of a child.
“These people have relationships with grieving families for years and years to help cope with the loss of a child,” Powell said. “It’s unbelievable the work they do.”
The Addison Group will help retool the organization’s Web site and help it branding its name and service, Powell said.
“This campaign will help ensure that no child or family is denied pediatric hospice services, and that Edmarc’s exceptional care and services will continue for the growing numbers of children and families who need our help,” Debbie Stitzer-Brame, CEO of Edmarc, said in a press release.
The Addison Group takes on one non-profit organization each year as a pro-bono client to help with the organization’s marketing needs. Nonprofit organizations had to apply to be considered for the Addison Group’s services.
Last year, Riddick’s Folly was the Addison’s Group’s choice organization, and staff helped create a new logo and Web site to enhance the Suffolk museum’s marketing effort.
