Elnora Smith Hedgepeth, 67, died March 13, 2009. She was born in North Carolina, a daughter of the late Irby Dean and Wilferd Pryor Smith. She was a retired teaching aide at Oakland Elementary School in Chuckatuck. She will be remembered by her students, and they will always hold a special place in her heart.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Lewis Leonard “Pete” Hedgepeth; three sons, Lewis L. (Brenda) Hedgepeth Jr., of Windsor, Mark Hedgepeth, of Suffolk, Brad (Melissa) Hedgepeth, of Smithfield; five grandchildren, Cassie Hedgepeth, Cheryl Bryant, Crystal Bryant, Joshua Hedgepeth, Zachary Hedgepeth; and two sisters, Viola Ivey, of Suffolk, and Madeline Bradshaw, of Gates County, N.C.
The funeral will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. John Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk. The family will receive friends at the residence. www.wrightfuneralhome.org.
