Joan Earley Noel, 76, passed away unexpectedly at her home March 30, 2009. Joan was born in Suffolk to the late Hazel and Charles Thornton Earley.
Joan was a 1951 graduate of Suffolk High School, and was a member of Suffolk Christian Church, where she was active in the West Memorial Bible Class and Saints Alive. Joan, along with her husband, George, were the owners of the Gurley Press, LLC for 32 years.
Joan is survived by her son, Gregory C. Noel and his wife, Lisa, of Smithfield; daughter, Pamela Oliver and husband, Jimmy, of Windsor; four grandchildren, Tyler Oliver, Michaela Noel, Meredith Oliver, Lauren Oliver; a very special niece, Cheryl Ashcraft, and husband, Tommy; and nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Suffolk Christian Church by the Rev. Michael Halley with burial in Holly Lawn. The family will receive friends at the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and other times at the daughter’s home, 18426 Longview Drive, Windsor, VA 23487.
