Elizabeth Copeland Hall, 82, of 3472 Jackson Road, Suffolk, died Wednesday, April 29, 2009. She was a native of Nansemond County and the daughter of the late Isaac Demiel Sr. and Anna Mary Turner Demiel. She was predeceased by her husband, Willie T. Hall Sr.; daughters, Kate Copeland and Vernell Outland; sisters, Margaret Woodley, Blanche Outland, Odessy McClenny, Mary Ann Chapman, Rachel Gaynor, Minnie Demiel; brothers, Bennie Demiel, Isaac Demiel Jr.
She retired as a companion nurse. She was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church, where she was a member of its Senior Missionary, Senior Usher Board and Missionary Lodge No. 2.
She is survived by six daughters, Florence Williams (Elbert), Beatrice Hunter (Thomas), Gloria Nichols (Ronald), all of Suffolk, Evelyn Copeland, of Irvington, N.J., Jane Potts (Jeffrey), of Fredericksburg, Va., and Marion Rountree (Gary), of Chesapeake, Va.; four sons, James Hall (Emma), of Aliquippa, Pa., Melvin Demiel, of Suffolk, Willie T. Hall Jr. (Cheryl), of Virginia Beach, Va., and Kenneth E. Hall. (Denise), of San Antonio, Texas; son-in-law, Carlton L. Outland, of Portsmouth, Va.; 36 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Esther Knight and Marie Williams, both of Suffolk; sisters-in-law, Gracie Demiel, Catherine Demiel, Marzella Brown and Thelma Rodgers, all of Suffolk; brother-in-law, Ezell Gaynor; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held at noon Monday, May 4, 2009 at Gethsemane Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Ernest Simmons. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
