Suffolk police were investigating a two-vehicle accident that resulted in at least one serious injury and shut down a portion of Portsmouth Boulevard on Monday.
The wreck took place at about 6:30 a.m., when a four-door Chevrolet that was traveling westbound on the road crossed the median into the eastbound lanes and was struck by an eastbound Ford pickup truck, according to Suffolk spokesperson Debbie George. The car then spun into a tree.
The female driver of the Chevrolet was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with what were believed to have been serious injuries. The driver of the pickup was taken to Sentara Obici Hospital.
The eastbound lanes of Portsmouth Boulevard were closed for a period as police conducted their investigation.
