SUFFOLK – Margaret Clegg Thompson Walters, 91, died June 14, 2009, in Consulate Health Care. Margaret married her loving husband of 71 years, Rufus B. Walters, on Oct. 4, 1937.
Born in Roland, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Arch and Mettie M. Thompson. Mrs. Walters was secretary-treasurer for Walters Glass & Upholstery Co. for 30 years. She was a member of Suffolk Christian Church and the Ladies Oriental Shrine of Khedive Temple.
Survivors include her husband, Rufus Brown Walters; son, William Crawford Walters, of Suffolk; grandsons, Ryland Walters, of Thomasville, N.C., and Brian Walters, of Houston, Texas.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at 2 p.m. in Suffolk Christian Church by the Rev. Michael D. Halley, with burial in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk.
