Five people, including one with serious injuries, were transported to area hospitals Monday evening after a head-on collision in the 3800 block of Nansemond Parkway.
Two of the injured were children, according to Suffolk spokesperson Debbie George.
The most seriously injured of those involved was flown by Nightingale Air Ambulance to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Nansemond Parkway was closed between Bennetts Pasture Road and Kings Highway while emergency workers treated the victims and police conducted their investigation. At 6:30 p.m., traffic still was being rerouted along Bennetts Pasture and Kings Highway.
