An anonymous citizen is offering a $5,000 reward for information on a murder earlier this month.

Police investigators say that the anonymous citizen has set up an account and deposited the funds for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person who murdered John Price Jr. on July 8.

John Price Jr., 50, was found dead on the street in the 100 block of Brewer Avenue shortly after 4 a.m. that morning, said city spokeswoman Debbie George. Price was delivering the Virginian-Pilot newspaper at the time. Police found a van that belonged to Price stopped in the roadway, with the engine running, a short distance from the man’s body. The driver’s door was open. A neighbor saw a young, thin, black male running from the area after the shooting, police have said. An autopsy confirmed that Price died of gunshot wounds.
