SUFFOLK — Wendell Nathaniel Edwards, 74, of 4481 Deer Path Road, Suffolk, passed away July 16, 2009 at the VA Medical Center, Richmond. He was born in Nansemond County (Suffolk) to the late Simon Peter Edwards, Jr. and Virginia Bell Baker Edwards.
Mr. Edwards was a graduate of East Suffolk High School Class of 1956. He was an Army veteran and was formerly employed by the Newport News Shipbuilding Company and was a retired Bus Driver for the Suffolk Public School System and Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia. He was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, Buckhorn, and was a former Church Clerk.
He leaves a legacy of love and precious memories to his wife, Ruth E. Edwards; his daughter, Wendy Bullock of Richmond; granddaughters, Kiristie Bullock and Jasmine Bullock; brother, Rudolph Edwards, Sr. and his wife Shirley of Suffolk and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at Piney Grove Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Larry Parker.
Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Crocker Funeral Home and at the residence at all other times. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.crockerfuneralhome.com.
