Artis McCoy Brown entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at the age of 69. Born on March 31, 1940, he was the second son of the late Shirley M. Brown and Hallie Mae Mizell Brown of Suffolk, Va. His parents, three sisters, Daisy Mae Brown, Annie Taylor, Nancy Norvell, and a brother, Wilbur Lee Brown, predecease him. He leaves to cherish his memory three brothers, McOlzer (Ethel) Brown, Richard (Glenda) Brown and Redell (Velma) Brown, two brother-in-laws, Robert Lee Taylor, Vernon Norvell and one sister-in-law, Linda Brown. He also leaves his devoted niece and his caretaker, Michelle Taylor. A host of other cousins, nieces and nephews will also cherish his memory forever.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2009 at St. Paul Baptist Church with Elder Annette Richardson officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Chesapeake, Va. The family will assemble at Crocker Funeral Home on Friday at 10 a.m. for the procession to the church. Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. is handling the arrangements.
