Joyce C. Morton, 72, died July 20, 2009 in Suffolk. Mrs. Morton was born in Newsome, Va., and was the daughter of the late Martha Edwards Whitley and Perry O. Whitley Sr. She was predeceased by her husband, Lemuel A. Morton Sr. and her sister, Letha Gregory Wilkins. She attended Faith Wesleyan Church.
She is survived by her son, Lemuel Alvin Morton Jr. and wife, Linda Morton; daughter, Phyllis M. Isaacs and husband, Raleigh H. Isaacs Sr.; grandchildren, Holly Whitley and husband, Jamie Whitley, Bobby Mason and wife, Blair Mason, and Brandy Morton; step-grandchildren, Raleigh Isaacs Jr. and Amy Isaacs; two great-grandchildren, Wade and Hailey Whitley; sisters, Nell Williams, Lydia Redd, Jean Roberts and Ernestine Warren and brother, Perry Whitley; and special friend, C.J. Mudge.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 24, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, with Pastor Lee Robison officiating. Burial will follow at Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery. Friends may join the family at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for visitation and other times at the Isaccs residence at 1402 Planters Drive, Suffolk.
