A grand jury on Monday handed down 106 indictments, including six for a man accused of threatening to blow up another man’s truck.
Richard Francis Thompson received indictments for making a bomb threat, making a hoax bomb, two counts of forgery and two counts of communicating a threat in connection with a March 12 incident in the 200 block of Crown Arch.
The victim in the incident received a phone call at his home, in which the caller told him he would “blow his truck up,” Debbie George, spokeswoman for the city, said.
The man went outside and found a bag and water bottle in the bed of his son’s truck, George said. Several blocks in the neighborhood were cordoned off while police sent a robot down the street to investigate the fake bomb.
Eight separate indictments also were handed down to Lavert Lamont Mitchell, who is accused of robbing several victims in the 100 block of Nancy Drive on Oct. 17, 2008.
The victims told police a man entered the home wearing a ski mask and carrying a shotgun, demanding the victims hand over their belongings. Thinking it was a friend playing a joke, one woman gave up her purse, expecting the offender to bring it back, George said.
