An accident Sunday afternoon killed two Suffolk residents and left a third in stable condition at a Norfolk hospital.

According to reports, 28-year-old Thomas W. Ashburn of Indian Trail Road, was killed when the Volkswagen sedan he was driving reportedly swerved into the path of a pick-up truck driven by 17-year-old Benjamin Copeland of Whaleyville Blvd.

Copeland was severely injured in the head-on collision and was airlifted to Sentara Norfolk where he was last reported in stable condition.

The passenger in the truck, 18-year-old Shane W. Blair of Kansas St., was killed in the accident.

The accident, which reportedly happened shortly after 4:30 p.m. Sunday, was on Indian Trail Road near Deerpath Road.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
