One man is in custody following a shooting Tuesday afternoon that put a 25-year-old man in the hospital.
Marquise Miller was found lying outside a residence in the 700 block of Kilby Avenue just after 2 p.m. He suffered serious injuries after being shot multiple times in the lower body, according to Suffolk officials.
He was flown by Nightingale air ambulance to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he underwent surgery Tuesday night. His condition was unknown at press time, according to a Sentara spokeswoman.
Suffolk Police have charged James Leonard Ash, 58, of the 700 block of Kilby Avenue with one count of malicious wounding, one count cut, stab or wound and one count possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Police believe the two men were involved in a fight prior to the shooting, but do not have additional details on a motive.
Ash is being held at Western Tidewater Regional Jail without bond.
