The cause of a Sunday morning accident that killed one and sent another to the hospital still is under investigation.

The single-vehicle accident was reported just after 5 a.m. Sunday, and occurred in the 1200 block of White Marsh Road, according to Suffolk spokeswoman Debbie George.

Preliminary investigation showed that a 1997 Infinity, operated by Keshawn Rodgers, 21, of Suffolk, was traveling south on White Marsh Road when it ran off the road to the left and struck a tree. Rodgers died at the scene. His passenger, Tremaine Johnson, was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, and was listed in good condition Monday.
