Excessive speed was named as a factor in the accident that killed a motorcyclist in Suffolk Sunday.
Austin Lee Sallinger, 52, of the 4000 block of Maple Drive, was traveling more than 100 miles per hour about 6:39 p.m. Sunday on South Quay Road when he lost control of the motorcycle, ran off the road to the left and struck a guardrail, city spokeswoman Debbie George said.
“I think it’s safe to say that speed was a factor,” George said.
South Quay Road was closed for several hours while police investigated the accident.
